Author Guidelines

Scope
JLIS publishes original research in law and information science, including management and services, collection development, cataloguing and classification, information retrieval, digital libraries and repositories, bibliometrics, information literacy, library automation, and the role of libraries in the digital environment.

Manuscript preparation

  • Length: 4,000–8,000 words including references
  • Abstract: up to 250 words, followed by 4–6 keywords
  • Format: MS Word (.docx), A4, Times New Roman 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing
  • Citations and references: APA 7th edition, Bluebook
  • Tables and figures: numbered consecutively with captions, placed near first mention

Anonymity
Manuscripts must be prepared for double-anonymous review. Remove author names, affiliations, and identifying acknowledgements from the manuscript file. Author details are entered separately during submission.

Originality
Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism. Authors must disclose conflicts of interest and funding sources.

Ethics
The journal follows COPE guidelines. Research involving human participants must state that appropriate ethical approval was obtained.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.
  • The text is 1.5-spaced, uses Times New Roman 12 pt, and follows APA 7th edition for citations and references.
  • The manuscript has been anonymised: author names, affiliations, and identifying acknowledgements have been removed from the file.
  • The abstract does not exceed 250 words and is followed by 4–6 keywords.
  • Tables and figures are numbered, captioned, and placed near their first mention in the text.
  • Where applicable, ethical approval for research involving human participants has been obtained and is stated in the manuscript.

Articles

This section publishes original research articles reporting empirical studies, theoretical contributions, or methodological developments in law, and information science. Submissions should present original work not previously published or under consideration elsewhere. All articles undergo double-anonymous peer review.

Authors retain copyright of their work and grant the journal right of first publication.

Articles published in this journal are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits others to share and adapt the work provided appropriate credit is given to the author and the original publication in this journal.

Authors are permitted to deposit the published version in institutional repositories or on personal websites, with acknowledgement of initial publication in this journal.

Information collected

When you register with this journal, we collect your name, email address, affiliation, country, and any other details you choose to provide, such as your ORCID iD, biography, or areas of expertise. If you submit a manuscript, we also collect the content of your submission and any correspondence relating to it.

How information is used

Registered users' details are used to operate the journal: to communicate with authors, reviewers, and editors about submissions; to identify suitable reviewers; to publish author names and affiliations with accepted articles; and to send occasional notifications about the journal, from which you may unsubscribe at any time.

Disclosure

Author names and affiliations are published with accepted articles and are shared with indexing services, abstracting databases, and, where applicable, DOI registration agencies. Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors under our double-anonymous review policy. We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not disclose it to third parties except where required by law.

Retention and security

Data is retained for as long as necessary to maintain the scholarly record. Submission records, including rejected manuscripts, are retained for editorial and ethical purposes. Access to personal data is restricted to editorial staff who require it to carry out their duties.

You may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data by contacting us at contact@jlisjournal.com. Please note that information forming part of the published scholarly record cannot be withdrawn.
